New London secures nearly $549K for road repaving
New London will receive state funding to repave six streets in the community, Village Administrator Shawn Pickworth reported to the village council this week.
The Ohio Public Works Commission's Small Governments Board approved the village’s application on May 9, granting a total of $548,720 for street resurfacing projects.
The project will include paving part of Grant Street, West Hooker Street, Clyde Avenue, Daisy Drive, Williams Street and Cedar Street.
Pickworth stated the funding package includes a $410,223 grant, and a $78,138 zero-interest loan. The local share is $60,359.
In his written report, Pickworth said the village expects to receive funding agreements around July 1, with the disbursement of funds anticipated by September.

Power outage keeps water, sewer crews busy
Crews were kept busy at both the water and sewer plants during a power outage over the past weekend, New London Village Administrator Shawn Pickworth reported to the village council May 12.
In wastewater updates, Pickworth said the village is awaiting slip lining numbers related to the New London Avenue project.
Storm sewer replacement continues from North Main Street and East Washburn Street, Pickworth said, with progress dependent on scheduling availability.
