Unofficial results from the May 6 election in Huron County are in, as reported by the county elections board.
Voters in Huron County rejected 2,370-1,644 (59.04 percent-40.96 percent) a measure for Huron County Board of Mental Health & Addiction Services, according to the final unofficial results. This levy was a 10-year 0.5 mill replacement with a 0.5 mill increase -- bringing it to 1-mill.
"While we're deeply disappointed by the outcome of the levy vote, our commitment to Huron County remains unshaken," Huron County Board of Mental Health and Addiction Services said in a statement Wednesday.
"We’re grateful to everyone who supported this effort and stood up for mental health and recovery," the post said. "Though the path ahead will be more difficult, we will keep fighting to preserve vital services, close the gaps, and ensure no one faces mental illness or addiction alone."
Overall, Huron County's turnout was 10.86 percent. Polls across Ohio closed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
State Issue 2 to fund public infrastructure capital improvements by permitting the issuance of general obligation bonds was passing 67.76% to 32.24% with 100 percent of Ohio's vote counted, the Ohio Secretary of State's office reports.
State Issue 2 and the Huron County measure were the only items on the New London ballot on May 6.
The voting location in New London and New London Township was the Hileman Building at New London Recreation Park.

Additional water storage sought for New London
The village of New London, with the support of its largest water customer, is seeking to add 250,000 gallons of storage capacity to help operate the village water plant in the most efficient way possible, village administrator Shawn Pickworth reports.
The Rural Lorain Water Authority, New London's biggest customer, backs the proposal, the village government reports.
The additional storage capacity would help operate the water plant by stabilizing water supply levels and reducing treatment fluctuations, Pickworth wrote in the recent report to village council.
To begin the process, Pickworth requested permission from the council to issue a Request for Qualifications to secure the services of an engineering firm. This step would provide preliminary project engineering and cost estimates.
Once engineering details are established, Pickworth said the village can pursue funding options to cover the project’s cost. He requested council approval to start the planning phase.
