Timeline emerging for Willard's Laurel Street waterline project
The Laurel Street waterline replacement project is set to begin in July, depending on the arrival of supplies, Willard City Manager Bryson Hamons stated in a written report presented to City Council this week.
R.A. Bores was awarded the contract as the lowest bidder at $227,319. The work will replace 1,120 feet of existing 4-inch cast iron water main with new 6-inch PVC water main, Hamons wrote.
The city will replace service lines from the main to curb stops located in the boulevard.
Property owners who want their entire service line going into the house replaced may contract individually with R.A. Bores during construction, the report stated.
A letter with complete project details is being sent to affected residents. During construction, parking will be prohibited on Laurel Street from Park Street to South Main Street.
Residents will have access to their driveways but may experience brief delays. Non-residents are asked to take alternate routes and avoid the area.
This project is partly funded by a $78,500 Community Development Block Grant, with the city covering the remaining $148,819.
