Preview of Willard's Memorial Day observances
The city of Willard is providing a preview of the VFW Memorial Day Parade at 10 a.m. Monday.
"Any veteran is welcome to march by meeting at the Willard V.F.W. (19 Woodland Avenue) at 9:00 A.M.," the city said in an update. "Residents are encouraged to line the parade route streets (North Myrtle, Front Street, Spring Street, and State Route 99) at 10:00 A.M. to support our Armed Forces members."
A ceremony at the cemetery will take place immediately after the parade, with Willard Police Detective and Marine Veteran Jeremy Gray addressing the crowd, the city said.
"The American Legion Post 514 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3430 (VFW) are partnering to pay tribute to our Armed Forces Veterans, both past and present, and remember our POW's and MIAs," the city also said.
"On Monday, May 26, we invite the community to join us as we remember the brave men and women who have fought for the freedoms that we enjoy today by living in the United States," the announcement stated.
