List: 17 honors for New London athletes, teams, coach in season of excellence

New London High School athletics is excelling at multiple levels.
In recent days, the district provided several updates on the successes during the winter sports season.
Some highlights:
-- all-Firelands Conference honors for members of the girls varsity basketball program: Gracie Thomas and Valery Henry (first team); Coach Eric Mitchell (Firelands Conference Coach of the Year); Olivia Yetter and Pailee Wilson (second team); and Madison Rowland (honorable mention). The team finished the season at 18-6, and won a second straight Firelands Conference title (14-0), along with a second consecutive Division VI sectional championship.
-- basketball player Gracie Thomas, District VI, 2nd team
-- basketball player Valery Henry, District VI, 2nd team
-- basketball player Olivia Yetter, District VI, honorable mention
-- boys basketball player Jaxson Schaffer, District VI, honorable mention
-- girls wrestling: Gwen Voltz (2nd place, Clyde sectional); Ava Downs (3rd place); Hailie Pylant (5th place)
-- boys wrestling (at least 2 district qualifiers): Hunter Chandley and Jayden Bracken
