Momentum continues for Willard's proposed Veterans Memorial
The city of Willard provided an update on the proposed Veterans Memorial in the community.
"The Veterans committee has been granted permission to proceed with the Veterans Memorial at the Willard Park," Willard City Manager Bryson Hamons said in a written report presented to City Council this week.
"The land off Main Street will eventually pay homage to our brave men and women of the Willard community who have served our nation bravely," he added.
The proposal reached Willard City Council in early May.
Some further details from this week’s report from Hamons:
-- In the near future the Veterans Memorial committee through the Willard City Schools Honor Committee will be reaching out to all local Veterans in their database for feedback on what they want to see included in their memorial to honor their fellow brothers and sisters.
-- The goal of the committee is to share our Veterans stories with
future generations, so that the cost of freedom is never forgotten.
-- After the surveys are collected, they will be shared with the committee and architect. This is so their vision can be illustrated for further feedback.
-- The committee's goal is to have the renderings completed by the Military Appreciation Night Football game on Sept. 12.
