Hunter suspended for unlawful deer harvest in Huron County
HURON COUNTY — A recent investigation by the Ohio Division of Wildlife has led to the conviction of a local hunter for illegally harvesting white-tailed deer in Huron County.
A state wildlife officer determined that the hunter had harvested two antlered deer and game-checked the second buck under a second individual’s name, the Ohio Division of Wildlife reported this week.
The officer issued the suspect summonses for harvesting more than one antlered deer and taking or possessing a deer unlawfully.
Information about a suspicious white-tailed deer harvest prompted the investigation.
Norwalk Municipal Court found the hunter guilty, imposing a fine of $421, along with a suspension of hunting privileges for one year. Additional penalties include 20 days of suspended jail time and two years of probation without mandatory reporting.
The hunter's name was not immediately available through the state field report.
The harvested deer will be distributed to food banks throughout Huron County by the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
