HURON COUNTY — Road construction projects are set to impact Huron County starting next week, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) reported Oct. 10.
These projects, including work on State Routes 13 and 99, as well as U.S. Route 224, may cause delays. All construction is weather-dependent and subject to change.
Details were announced via ODOT news release.
State Route 13 will have single-lane closures for major reconstruction work from the Richland County line to U.S. Route 250. The project involves pavement replacement, culvert repairs, and bridge maintenance. A separate closure on State Route 13, from U.S. 224 to State Route 162, will remain in place for 200 days, with traffic detoured.
The detour directs motorists from State Route 13 north to U.S. 224 east, U.S. 250 west, State Route 162 west, and back to State Route 13.
Local traffic only will be maintained. The section is expected to reopen Friday, Nov. 22, with full completion estimated by June 2025.
State Route 99 will continue undergoing major rehabilitation from State Route 103 to U.S. Route 20, including pavement edge reconstruction, repairs, and asphalt resurfacing in three phases. Flaggers will manage traffic during the work, which is expected to finish by the end of October.
U.S. Route 224 is also seeing lane closures as crews resurface the road from the Seneca County line to the Ashland County line.
The project, which does not affect the city of Willard, will keep traffic moving but may cause delays. ODOT plans to complete this work by the end of October.
