Election Day is arriving in Willard.
Items on the Tuesday, May 6, Willard ballot include a replacement levy for Willard's parks and recreation system, a measure for Huron County Board of Mental Health & Addiction Services and State Issue 2.
State Issue 2 involves a proposed constitutional amendment to fund public infrastructure capital improvements by permitting the issuance of general obligation bonds.
Two measures were submitted for Plymouth voters to address on May 6:
-- PLYMOUTH: PROPERTY TAX (RENEWAL - 1 mill, 5 YEARS, COMMENCING 2025, FIRST DUE 2026) operating and maintaining the village cemetery. (A similar measure narrowly lost in November 2024).
-- PLYMOUTH: PROPERTY TAX-ADDITIONAL - 2 mills, 5 YEARS, for police
(Some Huron County residents vote in the Plymouth election, as well)
Voting hours statewide for the primary/special election day, May 6, are 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Cecilia Blevins, director of the Huron County Board of Elections, was asked about projections for voter turnout in the county.
"We're hoping for 20 percent," she said.
"We would love 100 percent because everybody should come out and vote, but it's been slow," she said of early voting.
Early voting started on April 8 across Ohio. In-person early voting ended at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4.
"Return your absentee ballot by mail (must be postmarked by May 5, 2025) or deliver it in person to your county board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on May 6, 2025," the Huron County Board of Elections posted.
In Huron County, the election board’s Facebook page is “Huron County, Ohio Board of Elections.” Frequent updates are posted there. A link to the board’s website is available here. Voting locations can be found on that website.
