Three children and the driver were injured in a minivan crash in Huron County's New Haven Township, authorities said.
The crash occurred on Boughtonville Road near Walnut Road about 2:40 p.m. Friday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.
The preliminary investigation showed a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, operated by Azucena Cuevas, age 40, was traveling west on Boughtonville Road, the patrol said via news release. The minivan traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking a ditch and a guardrail.Â
Riding in the minivan were the three young children ranging from 1 to 4 years of age. "None of the children were secured in child safety seat restraints," the patrol said in a statement.
A 1- and 3-year-old boy sustained possible injuries and were treated by North Central EMS at the scene. A 4-year-old girl sustained serious injuries and was flown by Medflight to University Hospitals.Â
The scene was about 7 miles east of Willard, 14 miles southwest of New London and 16 miles north of Shelby.
Ms. Cuevas was wearing her seatbelt and sustained possible injuries.
North Central EMS transported her to Mercy Health in Willard.Â
No other names were released.
The crash remains under investigation by the state patrol's Norwalk post.Â
